2020 PRELIMINARY IHS Summer Band Schedule July 27-28 -- Drum majors and drill sgts. Report 8am-11 July 29-30 -- Incoming freshmen and drill sgts. report 8:00-11:30 July 31 -- Everybody report 8:00-11:30 Aug. 3-7 -- Everybody 8:00-11:30 Aug. 10-14, 17-18 -- Evening rehearsals at a time to be determined later. July 27-31 -- ALL PERCUSSION---REQUIRED 1:00-3:00 For those that are new to high school band, these rehearsals are a requirement. By the time school starts, we will have most music memorized and will be learning our marching routine. Failure to be at summer band will be cause for removal from band. If for any reason you need to miss a day, we need to be informed BEFORE you are absent. Even if we know ahead of time that you will be gone for an extended amount of time, you will not be assured a marching spot and your schedule might still be changed. If you are involved in football, we understand that our schedules will conflict some. Your absence from band will be excused as long as you are at football practice. We will do the best that we can to make sure you are learning in both band and athletics. What you need to bring to band rehearsal: water, tennis shoes, water, pencil, water, school appropriate clothes, water, a hard working attitude. No caffeinated drinks will be allowed at any rehearsal. Please bring water or Gatorade like drinks only. Please note that as of right now, this is a preliminary schedule. The UIL might let bands and athletics start earlier. If that happens, we will send out an updated schedule as soon as we can. It would be in your best interest to get off the couch and lay off the video games over the summer. You will have had an extended break. I can assure you that the parking lot that we practice on in August will be extremely hot. Marching band will be more physically demanding than what you are expecting. Please try to be physically active. If you are not already enrolled in Remind101, please do so. This is the best way for us to stay in contact with you. Parents, it would be great for you to sign up as well. We use this on Friday nights to let you know what time we will get home from football games. Text @itascaband to 81010. This is also a great way for you to get a hold of us in case your student is sick or needs to miss practice for any reason. I look forward to seeing everyone again. Hopefully by the time school starts all of this sickness will be contained. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get a hold of us. Patrick Middleton pmiddleton@itascaisd.net
