Letter from our Nurse 12.11.20

Nurses Corner

December  11, 2020

Dear Itasca,

Thank you so much for allowing me to help care for your children during these crazy times!

I wanted to share with you all that starting yesterday, I am able to test for Influenza, Strep, and Covid for all enrolled students, staff members and school board members.  In order to do so, they will have to be signed up through the virtual care for families program which is partnered by Urgent Care For Kids.  Through this program, the student/staff member will be seen virtually by a pediatrician in office via an Ipad.  After being seen by the physician , he/she will give me orders on which tests/treatments to perform.  Some of the services offered include: Colds, Allergies, Skin irritations, stomach issues, cuts, and burns to name a few.  If interested you can sign up at  http://duck.care/itasca .   I am also available to answer any questions you may have.  You can call me at 254-687-2922 ext. 148 or email me at  srea@itascaisd.net.

There have been some who are hesitant to sign up because they don’t want anything done on their child without them being present.  If that is the case, we will be more than happy to wait until you are able to come to the school.  You will have to sign in at the appropriate office, prior to being allowed to my office.  There are also some hesitant to sign up due to  not having insurance.  If you don’t have insurance you will be billed a fee of $75.  If the only testing needing done is Covid testing, there won’t be a charge for that.

I am excited about this opportunity!  I believe it will really be beneficial to students who participate as they won’t miss as much school (results only take 15 minutes unlike some of the other places that take anywhere from 1-3 days).

Again, thank you for allowing me to help your children!

Respectfully,

Stephanie Rea RN
