This week marks the 50th anniversary of the Itasca Wampus Cats boys basketball team first trip to the State Tournament. Led by head coach Brenton Hughes, the 1969-1970 1A State Semi-Finalists and Region II champs finished the season 25-7, with a 10-0 District 13-1A championship record. The boys program would have two more trips to the State Tournament in 1984 and 1993.
